MP Egg Seller Receives ₹6 Crore GST Notice Amid Fraudulent Registration

Dated: 29/03/2025

In an apparent case of identity theft, an egg vendor from Damoh, Madhya Pradesh received a GST notice for ₹6 crore linked to a company that was fraudulently registered in his name in Delhi in 2020.

The fictitious firm reportedly recorded transactions worth about ₹50 crore over two years in sectors like leather, wood, and iron, yet it never fulfilled its GST obligations.

The vendor, who earns a modest living selling eggs, claims he has never been to Delhi and was unaware of any such business being established under his credentials.

Consequently, his family has filed complaints with both the police and tax authorities, urging a thorough investigation to clear his name and address the misuse of his personal details.
